EnergySource projects satisfy our utility customers’ need for consistent delivery of renewable energy. To do that, EnergySource secures the best available generation sites in the most prolific renewable resource areas in the western states. Our focus is on grid-connected base load geothermal power and peak demand solar power generation. EnergySource has no technology bias and selects the most appropriate generation technology for a given site application, taking into consideration environmental impact and mitigation, availability of scarce water resources and land constraints.

Geothermal Power

Geothermal projects provide base load renewable energy at a high capacity factor 24 hours a day. For its first 100-200 MW of geothermal projects, EnergySource is developing its Hudson Ranch resource, situated in the most proven geothermal resource field in the U.S. – the Salton Sea. Our Hudson Ranch projects utilize the best available proven technology for the challenging Salton Sea conditions. Given the high availability and 24/7 operating characteristics of these plants, their output is in especially high demand among utilities purchasing power to meet their RPS requirements.

Solar Power

Solar projects are sited to maximize generation efficiency for a given technology and deliver energy that follows the peak evening hours to the fullest extent possible. EnergySource is planning to deploy a mix of PV or CPV solar generation technologies to best fit the characteristics of individual project sites – site size, resource attributes, water availability, etc. Current projects in development involve PV and CPV applications in a top-rated California solar resource area.
